China Mobile plans to establish a R&D center in Silicon Valley in 2009, according to a report by the 21^st Century Business Herald of China. The facility will be China Mobile's first R&D center out of China. Further details regarding the investment were not yet disclosed though. According to the same source, the company has entered into talks with other telecom operators on how to operate a public mobile internet platform. Meanwhile, the company also expressed its interest in promoting the Widget platform running on its existing TD-SCDMA (Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) network.
